Instructor - Lynn Ruggles
Lynn Ruggles is a spinner, weaver and dyer. She first learned to weave, then added spinning when she was gifted with a fleece from a friend’s sheep. This led to even more fiber adventures including her own flock of Shetland sheep, teaching at various conferences, and collecting native plants (weeds) for dyeing. She received her Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Handspinning from the Handweavers’ Guild of America for both Level 1 and Level 2.
Perfect Plying….Plying is the art of twisting fibers together to create a smooth, even yarn. We will first cover the basics of how to spin an even yarn and how much ply you need for various sizes of yarn. But what if you want to be a little more daring? Perhaps your inner spinner is looking for something a little more challenging, an uneven twist with two different fibers, a lumpy novelty yarn, or a multi-plied work of art? In this class you will first learn the basics of plying 2 single yarns together then expand your repertoire with 3- plies, novelty yarns and mixing fibers.
